Mostly I find that working on my other goals gives me a great sense of wellbeing, e.g. learning a bunch of stuff makes me feel a great sense of forward momentum. But if I'm in "doing" mode too much, I can get a kind of frantic "there's not enough time!!!" energy, so it's also really important to have a grounding meditation practice.
After a few months where I didn't meditate at all, I had the strongest ever "before and after" feeling from a ~20 minute sit, which made me realise how much I've been in a kind of frantic mode. I'm now meditating in a very Sasha Chapin-inspired way, essentially noticing constriction and releasing holding as much as I can. It's very relaxing and nice.
